Power of People (POP 🍾)

Last month I had the privilege of working in person with a group of clients.

Actually in the room together. Crazy, I know!

I love in person training. In 2025 it feels a little retro (pre-COVID) but it’s amazing when you get like minded people in a space together with the intention of getting something done. It’s just different to be in a room together and not on zoom or phone.

As for this training event, the theme I chose was “connection” and it turned out to be very timely. We did some planning, and connected it to the big WHY. We played a game that was designed to get participants to connect. We connected our goals to smaller steps and some strategies to get across the finish line.

Mostly though, I find these in-person events are all about connecting with the inner fire that drives entrepreneurship.

As an independent business owner, life can get lonely. It’s often challenging to hold your dreams up all by yourself and not share your hopes and fears with people who just don’t “get it.”

Put 45 entrepreneurs in a room together for 2 days and start talking quarterly goals and planning and watch the magic happen.

Ask a few focused questions about what will get in the way or what they need help with and magic starts to happen. Share a few fears out loud with people who get you and it’s like balm to the soul when 15 people wrap their love and understanding around you; people who have been in your shoes offer support and maybe some solutions you hadn’t considered; you feel seen for the first time in a long time.

As a group, we are more powerful than we are alone. There is power in shared conversations that end in amazing declarations of intentions and goals.

I was struck by the contrast to what happens over a zoom call versus an intensive in person experience. It’s a crazy big difference. Both good, but one is like a turbo charger!

So here are a few of my thoughts about the past week:

We gather in our lives for big personal life events like weddings, graduations and big birthdays to mark them momentously and lock in the gravity and celebration of the moment. It’s important to do this for your business as well. Celebrate. Throw a party. Toot your own horn!

There is power in “the collective” - bringing like minded people together who speak your entrepreneurial language feels amazing! Put it on your bucket list for this year!!

Sometimes it takes someone who has “been there, done that” to kick us in the butt and get us out of the box we build around ourselves. Seriously - some of those boxes are built like Fort Knox. You really only get this at an in person experience.

Travel is good for the spirit. Wrapping it up as a business expense makes it all that much more sweet!
