Phone Fear

Hey Reader -

There are tasks in business that we know we need to do, but we still avoid them. A real client brought me this fear last week - so I'm not naming names here, but stay with me because it might also be your sticky "thing."

For a lot of business owners, calling clients is one of them. (I'm not talking emailing, or texting here - I'm talking about a good old fashioned phone call!)

You know you should check in. You know you should ask for feedback. You know you should stay connected.

But then the hesitation creeps in.

What if they say they are unhappy? What if they think we have not been doing a good job? What if the conversation feels awkward? What if I don't know what to say?

So instead of making the call, you put it off.

You tell yourself you will do it tomorrow. Then next week. Then when things are less busy.

Most of the time, the fear is worse than the reality.

The clients who appreciate you are often not the loudest ones. The happy clients usually are not emailing you every day to remind you that you are doing a good job.

And if there is a problem, avoiding the conversation does not make it go away.

In fact, having the conversation is often the fastest way to build trust, strengthen the relationship, and solve the issue before it gets bigger.

The awkwardness you are worried about usually disappears within the first 30 seconds.

You don't need the perfect script. You don't need to sound polished. You don't need to have all the answers. Trust yourself to do the right thing in the moment.

You just need to start.

A simple:

“Hi, I wanted to check in and see how things are going.”

That one sentence can open the door to a better relationship, more clarity, and more confidence.

Confidence is not something you wait for: it is not magically bestowed upon you in your sleep or after watching a video.

Confidence is something you build by doing the thing you are scared to do.

So if there is a call you have been avoiding, make it today.

You will probably find that it was never as scary as you thought.

Loving clients the old fashioned way -

Jenell

1:1 Coaching

If you are an entrepreneur who is ready to take your business to the next level or feel like it’s time to uplevel your own CEO skills - spend 30 minutes and create a plan for your next 6 weeks.

I offer a 30 to 45 minute call (not a package, not a series of calls, not an offer for on going coaching... really!) to entrepreneurs who are doing the things but really want to just get clarity and make some amazing progress in the next 4 - 6 weeks. It's a planning session. Simple. Clear. Amazingly powerful.

I do not offer "free" sessions or calls that sound good but are really sales calls.

I have supported hundreds of clients with small businesses make more money, reach successes they previously found elusive, and thrive as a CEO of a business rather than a slave to a job they built for themselves.

  • I don’t believe coaching is about forcing you to do things my way.
  • I do believe that being an entrepreneur is a lonely sport and we all need a team behind us!
  • I am firmly rooted in gratitude, and paired with a solid action plan it’s a powerful tool to reach your goals.
  • I do not think you can just think yourself out of a box you built for yourself.
